Built in 1860, the Royal Opera House has been one of the most important landmarks in Valletta. This building has suffered several damages. The first time in 1873 due to a fire but was entirely restored to its original design.
Unfortunately, the Old Theatre was destroyed once again during World War 2. It took more than 60 years for this magnificent building to be given a third chance.
Today, this prestigious site along with other historical landmarks in Valletta has been beautifully restored and given a new well deserved image which forms part of the City Gate Project designed by the world-renowned architect Renzo Piano .
Makaw Limited was responsible for the fabrication, supply and installation of all wooden acoustic panels within the main theatre.
